While waiting for an incoming flight at San Jose Airport, I spotted a friends and family gathering, waiting anxiously for their beloved soldier’s return home. Some of the children were dressed in Marine corps fatigues and carrying large American flags and banners. Everyone was beaming.
It was a beautiful moment when the group first spotted the Corporal, who was honored as the first passenger off of the plane. The expression of joy, on the Corporal’s face, when he saw the loving welcome home gathering was infectious.
When Corporal Telles reached baggage claim, a spontaneous cheer and applause broke out among the other passengers and walkers-by. The Corporal gave me the privilege of photographing him (in the black polo shirt).
It was Thanksgiving amplified.
